We wanted to explore VCE and HSC to help our kids study, but hunting down past exams on official websites is a pain for us.
Straight from the official VCAA and NESA websites. We just do the digging for you.
Usually, yes. Check the "Reports" or "Marking Guidelines" linked right next to the exams.
100%. Feel free to use it however you like. The license information can be found here.
Whenever the government drops new exams or study designs, we regenerate the index so they show up here. So not that often.
Us + Google Gemini + a couple of hours each night => a bunch of Python scripts and a Sqlite database. The pages are generated by a custom template + the content of the database, and the layout is based on Tailwind. It is actually very, very boring stuff.
It will be open-sourced soon. The code right now is far less useful than the website in our opinion, plus in this age of AI we're not sure how valuable it is. But we plan to open-source it anyway after we make sure everything is properly set up. A heads-up though: even when it does go open-source, we probably won't be accepting pull requests from the public because, you know, AI.
The site is targeted at both desktop and mobile devices. By mobile device, we mean at least an iPad-sized screen. Small screens are supported, but the experience is not as good.
As general advice, please get yourself a proper computer; even a second-hand laptop is much better when it comes to studying. Please allow us to be a bit cringey here: you're building your mental muscle by riding a bicycle of the mind; that muscle atrophies when you get stuck on a 24/7 surveillance gadget, where the tech bros of the world are trying to turn you into a human battery for their utopia. And it is bad for your eyesight.
Drop us a line. We're always happy to hear from you, but a reply might be very delayed—we all have our day jobs :)
We'll see. You might notice that there's "Lite" in the name—we might try something heavier in the future.
But rest assured, everything we put online will always be free and open-source.
